In 2000, the CTA® began construction at Jefferson Park Station. By the end of April 2001, installation of new hand- and guardrails and 90% of the flooring replacement work was complete.The $4 million project, half of which was funded by an Illinois FIRST grant secured by State Rep. Joe Lyons, D-19th, was a joint project between the CTA®, Metra, the Union Pacific Railroad (owner of the Metra line), is finally finished.
